Sing no sad songs for me.
For my heart closes its eyes and remembers
Your presence, putting a spell on my spirit.
Your voice, sending thrills to my veins.
Your touch, making my bones quiver.
Your kiss, burning my soul in ecstasy.
Winter has come for destruction.
Everything in cold utterance
Squeezing every part of me
Of life and love I knew.
I long for the oblivion of sleep.
And feel the absence of pain.
A myriad of deceitful sweetness
Indeed it was not bound to last.
A flawed lover to keep
Is but a delusion of love.
Light now holds the truth.
That only the pure is justified.
Wonderful write, Jeannette. A wonderful cadence that compliments the melancholy tone of the poem. Very nice!
