It's Just Another New Year's Eve

It's just another new year's eve
another night like all the rest
It's just another new year's eve
Let's make it the best

It's just another new year's eve
Another chance to live and grow
And learn the lessons we conceived
From fruits of what we sow.

We should not think of it as special
For everyday is all the same
New beginning for all that is crucial
To change and not to be ashamed

Leave the past and live today
Merriment is for the morrow
Hopeful sparrows need I say
Sing joyfully not mind the sorrow

It's just another new year's eve
another night like all the rest
It's just another new year's eve
Let's make it the best

This is in response to Poetry Jam the sound of music •♪•♫•♪• prompt to use music as an inspiration to write. It's Just Another New Year's Eve by Barry Manilow is one of my favorite songs.

A blessed New Year to everyone! May the year 2012 be filled with more poetry, stories and haiku for all of us. Wish you all the best in life!

My Christmas Haiku

a festive season
when excited children dream
a night with Santa

reconciliation
dear ones forgive and forget
under the love spell

a joyous moment
the little infant Jesus
makes our hearts aglow

my Christmas haiku
is written for all of you
in my gratitude

Panacea

Bells of my laughter
Echoed through the universe
Obsession of Zeus

Aching emptiness
Absence of panacea
Lingered till hopeless.

Forgiveness

Many times have I failed You
No matter how hard I tried
Difficulties blocked the view
The way ahead denied.

The hurtful words I have spoken
Pierced your heart like a knife
My lies echoed in the den
Of thieves torn apart by strife.

I am a blunder.
In pain of guilt I saunter.
I am a cheat.
Entangled in the web of deceit.
I am lost.
Wandering no matter what the cost.

My Jesus, I ask forgiveness
For all the wrongs I have done.
I long for You with gladness.
With you I may be one.

Create in me a clean heart
That we may never part.
Blot out all my sins.
In this warfare I want to win.

This is my gift to You, dear Lord
To live according to Your Word.
For peace and love to reign
In everyone's heart You ordain.

Happy Birthday Jesus!
